First Visit

We pride ourselves on being very different from most other dental offices you may have visited. It begins with a our complete examination of your entire masticatory system. We will check your periodontal condition (gum disease), the health of your jaw joints (TMJ), the health of your teeth, your chewing muscles, and perform an oral cancer screening. The periodontal examination will begin with measuring the area between the gum and the tooth. This will tell us if there is any disease present in those areas. We will then check to see if your teeth have any unusual movement or loss of gum height around each tooth. This is done to make sure that the bone and gum tissue around each tooth is able to support the tooth properly. The joint examination is quite involved. We will be checking many aspects relating to you jaw joints such as how far you can open, whether any pops, clicks or grating sounds are present, an whether you are experiencing any pain or headaches. We will then use doppler auscultation (ultrasound) to listen to the joint in order to determine the health an stability of your jaw joints. Certain x-rays might be required to help confirm a diagnosis. Your teeth will then be examined for unusual wear, broken fillings, decay, missing teeth, cracked teeth, painful teeth and more. A thorough oral cancer screening will then be performed to rule out any pathology (disease). Diagnostic models of your teeth will then be taken so that we will be able to analyze the way that your teeth come together in order to check if your bite is even and smooth. Once this has been completed, we will review all of the information and then have a consultation with you to discuss our findings. Plenty of time will be available for discussion and any questions that you may have. It is our goal to educate you as to what a healthy mouth is so that you can keep your whole mouth healthy for a lifetime. Complete oral health is our goal.

You will also notice our relaxed atmosphere and wonderful staff. Most have been with us for many years. It is our goal to make you as comfortable as we can. We cherish the long lasting relationships we have created over the years.

If you are ready for a new dental experience, if you want to save your teeth for a lifetime, if you want complete health of you entire mouth from joints to teeth, then we are the practice for you.
